Fundraiser surprises

Second post for the night - remember I was selling 7-Eleven Coupon books to raise funds for my son's Project Grad night? Well, with the help of family and friends (old and new), I sold them all! I have an order in for twenty more, so if you're interested in purchasing one (or more), let me know!

On to my surprises ... this first one is from Lorna. Lorna is a sweet blogging buddy who was kind enough to purchase one of the coupon books. Since she is an awesome cardmaker, she didn't just stick her check in an envelope and mail it to me. She made this beautiful card to go with it! Thanks for your support Lorna! And if you ever have any fundraisers, let me know!

Seond surprise: This cute little bag is from Joni H. Joni is another sweetie I met in Blogland and was kind enough to purchase a coupon book! Check out this RAK she gave me! It included some bling and some flowers! She also shared some stamped images, some cool paper, and some much needed envelopes!!! Thanks for your support, Joni, and for the super RAK! I know you'll have fundraisers too, so don't forget to let me know about them, ok?

Last surprise: This one is from Joy. I'm sure many of you already know Joy from her blog, and you also know how generous she is. Well, I'm the one who's fundraising, and look what she sends me? This beautiful card came with her payment, along with all this candy! Thanks for your support, Joy, as well as all the awesome goodies! Remember, let me know when you're fundraising too!

These gals have shown me that the aloha spirit is alive and well. Thank you ladies, for your donations. I am truly humbled and blessed to have met you. I can't thank you enough for your kindness and generosity.

June Aloha RAK

Hey all! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I sure did - I received my June Aloha RAK from Jan! This month's theme was flowers. We needed to make a card that incorporated flowers and then send some flowers to our partner. Check out Jan's awesome shutter card! Jan said she usually makes "very simple cards", but this definitely doesn't look simple to me!

The cardstock she used was very pretty and glimmery ... and in my favorite color!

In the middle section of the shutter, Jan included a poem by Charles E. Moore. Very creative, Jan!

And check out all the flowers I received from her! She also sent me some stamped flowers images for me to use on future creations!

All I can say is THANK YOU, JAN, for your generosity and thoughtfulness! I hope you enjoy Jen's Aloha RAK as much as I do! Aloha ...

No crafts, just dessert

Hey all ~ thanks to everyone who sent me well wishes. I'm feeling much better than yesterday, although I'm still dizzy. At least today I ate two meals.

I bought strawberries this weekend from Costco and they were so sweet! Mmm! Since the container was so big, I decided to freeze half of them. What a dumbo. I took them out of the freezer last night and left them in the fridge so I could eat them today when I got home from work. All I could think about while driving home was fresh strawberries with chocolate syrup and whipped cream. I stopped at Safeway to get the syrup and whipped cream, and noticed they had chocolate sponge cake. Woohoo! Now I'm getting more excited to eat dessert. So I get home, and when I look at the strawberries, they were soft and a little mushy. I guess you can't freeze fresh strawberries, huh? Duh?!?! However, all was not lost - the consistency of the strawberries was sort of like thick, chunky jam. To me this was perfect to layer on top of my sliced sponge cake. Here's how it turned out:

Mmm, it was so delish! It tasted like strawberry chocolate shortcake! Very refreshing and cool, on this warm summer night. Yummy! I have a play date on Sunday, and this is what I'm gonna be taking (along with a healthy pasta salad)! Thanks for visiting and always leaving such nice comments on my blog! Sweet dreams everyone!

Hawaiian Time

Ok, so I missed the deadline for the MS Society Fundraiser. I "talked" to Brenda and she said that it was ok, that I could still send her my cards. They have fundraisers throughout the year, and she said that they would be happy to receive my cards, especially when they find out they came from Hawaii. I wanted to make "beachy" type cards, and I thought these images were perfect! I got these images from Gracie. Thanks for sharing, Gracie! These are the cards I made:

Yes, I cut out all the images and then popped them up with foam tape. I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to like cutting images as it's very challenging to me. Uh oh, I can hear my BFF now: "See? What did I tell you? I told you that cutting was relaxing!" Hahahah! Well, it isn't really relaxing to me just yet, but maybe one day ...
Thanks for dropping in blogging peeps! Still got a lot of projects on my plate, so until next time, take care of yourselves and be safe out there. Aloha ...

Father's Day

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! We celebrated Father's Day last night at my house. Dad picked chinese food for dinner, we had ice cream for dessert and played Tripoly. The one thing that was different at this dinner, was my brother was here! He and his wife and her daughter are visiting, but will soon be leaving to go back home. We all had a great time! Father's Day snuck up on me this year. With so much going on, end of school year, project grad meetings, hubby's birthday, etc., I totally forgot to make my Father's Day cards. So as my Dad is sitting on my sofa last night waiting for dinner to arrive, I was on the dining room table finishing his card! LOL! He didn't even know what I was doing! Anyhoo, this is how the card turned out:

I made this next card for my hubs. When we met, over 25 years ago, he was an avid surfer. I never though I'd have a surfer boy for my boyfriend, let alone marry one! But I sure was lucky, and here we are, still together after all this time!
Here's an up close shot of my cutting:

I do believe I'm getting better at cutting. I guess everyone was right - I just need to practice and be patient. It's tough making masculine cards, but I think these came out pretty nice. Hope you think so too! Thanks for visiting!

MS Society Fundraiser

This is the first of five cards that I'm making for Brenda at Floral Fantasies. The cards will be used as part of a fundraising event for the MS Society at Addenbrookes Hospital, Cambridge. I wanted to send her some "summer time" cards, so the rest of the cards will have this theme. This is my Hula Mouse card. Ms. Mouse was a free digi image from Two Scoops Rice Design a few months ago. Thanks, Renae, for this cute image!

Ok, if you've been following my blog, you know that I can't stand to cut out images. Well, well, well! Lookie, lookie, here! Yes, my friends, I decided to try really hard to be patient and learn to cut images. I think this one came out pretty good, considering I'm a newbie to cutting. But, what was I thinking! Look at that skinny tail??? Kyoko, I'll show you the card tomorrow and you can see for yourself that I didn't cut her tail off! LOL! I've been inspired (to cut my images out) by my blogging sisters, Kyoko, Joy and Cami. These ladies are superb "cutters"! Kinda scary, yeah? Keep the sharp objects away from them. Hahahah!

Finally, I used the large dew drops as coconuts on my tree.

Another late night ... that's it for me. I really need to finish the rest of the cards tomorrow. I'll post the finished cards when I'm done. Until then, take care and stay safe. Aloha ...

New local craft store

Good evening everyone! Actually, it's morning, but I haven't gone to sleep yet, so it's still night time to me. For all you blogging peeps in the Aloha State, there is a new craft store on the east side of Oahu! Pineapple Cove is officially open! Located on the upper level of the Kahala Mall, right by the sliding glass doors to get to the theatres, Pineapple Cove is the newest paper craft store on Oahu. I met ManLe Hong, the store's owner and manager. We talked and talked and talked! ManLe is such a sweet and personable young woman! Anyhoo, after talking for a while, I decided to "browse" around the store. Now tell me - who can go to a brand new craft store and not buy anything??? Not me! I bought some paper (not shown), a couple of stamp sets, silver stickles and two packs of Thickers. I can't wait to use the Thickers!

So, for all you local crafting sisters (and you Island visitors as well), please come and check out Pineapple Cove. With the tough economic times that we're living in, we need to support our local businesses. ManLe has been lucky enough to start her own business, doing something she really loves! How many of us can say that? Congratulations, ManLe, on living your dream! Best wishes and much success to you!

I finally made something

Happy Monday everyone! I can't believe it's already the middle of June! Wow, wasn't it just Easter? These summer days are just flying by ~ lets be sure we all enjoy them!

Here's what I made:

I also made this Rock Star Anya card. I wasn't too sure how she would turn out, but I'm starting to like how it came out. I have a whole bunch of images that I colored and cut out yesterday and last night, so now all I have to do is put them together for some cards!
I have ideas on what I'm gonna do, so I hope you'll stay tuned to see what I come up with. The next batch of cards I'm making will go to Brenda for her MS auction. I need to get my butt in gear tonight so I can send those out tomorrow.
Ok, crafty peeps, that's it for now. I can't wait to go to work so I can come back home and start crafting again. Does that make sense? Hahahah! Anyhoo, you all take care and be safe out there. Until next time, Aloha ...

RAKs Part 1

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It was a beautiful one here in Hawaii - the tradewinds are finally back! Woohoo!

I'll be posting some things I made today, but first I'd like to share some RAKs that I recently received. This first RAK was given to me by my nameless friend. She knows that I don't have a whole lotta ribbon, so she gave me four huge rolls! Thank you friend! You always know just what to give me! LOVE IT!!!

I received this next RAK from my GF Michelle! She made the Sizzix french fry box and instead of filling them with edible goodies, she stuffed it with a whole lot of brads! Check them out ...

She sure stuffed a lot of brads in that french fry box! Thanks Michelle, LOVE IT!!!

June OCS

Hey everybody! Check out this beautiful card I received today from my June OCS partner, Enjoli. She is a very creative card maker and an awesome paper crafter! If you haven't checked out her blog yet, please do so - you won't be disappointed!

Check out the detail on Anya's headband and matching handbag ~ its LV designer paper! I love it! Hmm, I wonder if Enjoli got this paper from my BFF ... hehehe!

I also got an ***EDWARD*** bookmark (LOVE IT!) and ...

an ***EDWARD*** accordian folder! Aww, isn't this Edward the sweetest??? Enjoli, as soon as I saw this, I knew it was Edward!!!

And look what was inside the folder? Purple bling!!! Wow - I gave some of these away last week, and now I got some for myself! How wonderful is that? Thank you, Enjoli, for everything! I'm glad you were my partner this month too! I'll be sending your card out soon ...

Ok, friends, time for me to go. You can't tell from my post, but I'm not feeling too well. My vertigo is coming back and I'm pretty dizzy and nauseated right now. I need to get some rest. So until next time, take care and be safe. Aloha ...

OCS & a RAK

Hi everyone! Wow - it's been a while since I've posted anything, huh? Sorry about that! Anyhoo, I wanted to share my May OCS that I received from Jodi! Thanks for this beautiful card, Jodi! I love the colors you used, and your coloring is awesome! This picture does not do the card justice! If you haven't checked out Jodi's blog, please hop on over there and do so! You won't be disappointed!

Last week I finally got to meet another blogging sister in person. Can you guess who it was by looking at this wonderful RAK she gave me?

If you guessed Joy, from A Place To Be Me, then you're correct! Thanks so much for this post-it holder, Joy - its sitting on my craft table waiting for me to write on it! Every time I look at it, I'll think of the fun we had at lunch that day! Can't wait to get together again! Hukilau anyone?
That's it for now. Gotta leave for work. Hope to post more tonight. Until next time, take care and be safe. Aloha ...

Free HK fonts

Quick post until after dinner: I've been MIA for the last two days, but I'll tell you about it later. Anyhow, I was checking out my fav blogs, and came across Laura's blog with an interesting post. The title was "For HK Lovers". Of course, there are so many of us that love Hello Kitty, so I had to check it out. You can check it out here! It's a free font site that you can download and use with MS Word! This is so exciting! The font is called Mellow Fonts 1 and includes various HK images as well as other Sanrio images, using the entire alphabet (upper and lower case) and the numbers (61 images in all!). Check out Laura's blog and also Allison at Stampin' When I Can, to see the cute card that Allison made with Pochacco! Thanks to the wonderful person who put these images on www.dafont.com! Have fun with this one ladies!!!

Another bling folder

I also made a bling folder for my BFF, Kyoko. She already had some purple blingies from sweetie Enjoli, so I gave her some pink blingies! With summer quickly approaching, I thought I'd use Leila, since she looks so cute and cool! It's been so hot, here in Hawaii. I'm not complaining, because I know it could be way worse, but I'm just sayin' ... it's so hot!

K, I don't know what happened to this close up, but the color got kinda messed up when I saved her. Oh well, you get the idea of what colors I used from the first picture. Anyhoo, it's only 9:00 p.m., but I'm beat. I received an awesome RAK today, along with my May OCS card. I'll post those tomorrow. Until next time, Aloha ...
P.S.: For all you Twilight fans, I hope you like the "Eye Candy" section of my blog. I wonder how long my obsession with Edbert (Edward/Robert) will last ...

Bling holders

Happy Hump Day everyone! I'm meeting some friends for lunch tomorrow and wanted to make a little something for them. One friend likes pink, the other likes purple. So, I made these little image folders again, but instead of images, they're getting some BLING! Check it out ...

Can you believe this is the first Hello Kitty anything I've made (not counting the HK backpack I made at Teri's house)? I have quite a few HK dies that still need to be cracked out of their packages and used!

I ordered these little packages of rhinestones and half pearls from Roses on Paper. Check out Summer's site, she's got lots of really cute stuff for sale! AND she has those flowers I love!!! I got to ink up my very first Gorjuss Girl stamp from my BFF, Kyoko. I love them! Thanks again, Sis!

That's it for now. Gotta get some much needed sleep. Until next time, Aloha ...

From my BFF

Hi everyone! Happy Monday! Hope you all had a wonderful day! Ok, if you have been following my BFF's blog, you know that she made me a surprise last night and was gonna give it to me today. Well, well, well ... I know from reading all your comments to her that you're all waiting to see what it was! Let me tell you, she didn't disappointed! She gave me ***EDWARD***! I opened up the ribbon and out he popped!

I WISH! Actually, she got me the entire Gorjuss Girls Set #2 and two of the individual stamps!!! How is that for a BFF? OMG - it's like I hit the jackpot! Thanks so much Kyoko! I'm so glad that you're greedy and that you share your greediness! Hahahaha! Whew - ok, girls, so how was that surprise? Pretty awesome, huh? Can't wait to hear what you have to say about this super duper RAK!

Kyoko and I have so much fun together it's unbelievable. I'm so blessed to have you in my life Sister! Love you always!
