August OCS

One night after work, I was lucky enough to have a private class for a pop-up card at Pineapple Cove. Thanks for teaching me, ManLe! It was lots of fun - especially cutting out that tiny flower! LOL! Anyhoo, after making the card with ManLe, I decided to use this technique for my August OCS, that Teri organizes every month. Be sure to check out Teri's blog if you're interested! I met my partner, Vina, at the Island Girls Social a couple weeks ago, and found out that she's a new Twilight fan. Because I am so loving this Edward stamp from TGF, I had to use it on Vina's card. It's a very clean and simple card, without many embellishments. This is what I came up with ... I hope she likes it!

Thanks for stopping by and until next time ~ take care and be safe. Aloha!

Another creative sister!

Hi everyone! Quick post before I leave for work. I've been meaning to direct you all to another local sister who is new to the blogging world. Please check her out and show her some love! Her name is Kris and you won't be disappointed with her creations! See y'all later and have a great day! Sorry, I couldn't resist sticking Rob in this post. But aren't you glad I did? Heehee!

You're spoiling me again!

Oh my word! What did I do to deserve such wonderful new friends? My BFF and I have only been blogging since April of this year, and we have "met" so many sweet and talented ladies! Here are some RAKs I received this past Saturday. Check it out:

This next super cute RAK is from my sweet Chalsie! Girl, I didn't know you were so SHY!!! I hope Kyoko and I didn't scare you! LOL! Chalsie made this awesome HK teabag holder AND this unbelieveably cute stamp holder! Inside the stamp holder was the Swiss Pixies "Heidi among the flowers" stamp! What a great surprise! I was gonna buy this stamp and Kyoko told me, "Chalsie said do not buy that stamp!". So I listened and didn't buy it. Awesome job on coloring Miss Megan and cutting out her blouse and shoes! Wowee! Thanks Chals - love you!

This next RAK is from my DF Cami. She made me this beautiful gift bag (in my fav color!) and included some gorgeous flowers and a new MS punch!

She also made me this beautiful card that brought tears to my eyes. Thanks for your kind words, Cami, they really mean alot to me. Love you lots!

As I said earlier, I don't know what I did to deserve all the kindness that these ladies have shown me. I am so very thankful to have you in my life! So, ladies, until we see each other again, please take good care of yourselves and always be safe.

Summer Social!

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I sure did! I was invited to a Summer Social organized by my DF Teri, of Big Ideas from a Little Girl fame. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE INVITE, GIRL! Teri wanted to put together an event where local bloggers could meet in person, share ideas, do some fun make & takes, shop till we dropped, and just have fun! She definitely accomplished her goal! This event wouldn't have been possible without Danny, Barbie and Sunny Rosario, who were kind enough to let us use their AIR CONDITIONED showroom! We are all so thankful that you did that! Barbie also coordinated the delivery of our delicious bentos from Best Drive Inn. Mmm, that bento was ono!

There were so many things going on - I brought my camera but didn't get a chance to take any pictures! That's what I get for being a social butterfly! LOL! We had live demonstrations by Jen Young (the Cricut Queen), Jodi Ann Lee (the Copic coloring Queen), Claudette San Pedro (the Sweetie Queen), and ManLe Hong (the Pineapple Cove Queen). We were also able to shop, shop, shop! Joy of Tamiko's, Jen of Little C's, Summer of Roses on Paper, all had items for sale at some awesome prices!!! Items from Fisher Hawaii, courtesy of Teri, were also available for purchase. Yes, we went crazy! Here are the RAKs I received from some very talented and ambitious ladies:

These are the Twilight RAKs I also received. The mag is from Claudette - thanks so much for thinking of me girl! And check out the goodie bag that Sunny made! Barbie said she was practicing for her Twilight birthday party. You did a super job, Sunny! Thank you so much!

This is the goodie bag that everyone got upon check in. We also had ID cards personalized with Sweeties, courtesy of Ms. Claudette. All items in the goodie bag were donated by some very generous people. So overwhelming ... the Aloha Spirit is something that you just can't describe, but it is definitely alive and well.

We also were given all the necessary items for three make & take projects. Two beautiful cards and one super duper notebook. Of course I didn't finish making my projects since I was so busy doing other things ... but I did want to say a special THANK YOU to the best helper ever! Taelyn, Joy's daughter, was such a huge help to all of us at the "Bind It All" table. She put together so many notebooks it was unbelieveable! She was like the Energizer Bunny - she kept going, and going, and going! Thanks, Taelyn, for making my notebook! I just love it and I can't wait to see you again!
Whew - what a long post! I hope I didn't forget anything or anyone. If I did, I'm so very sorry and did not forget you intentionally. Thanks to Teri for EVERYTHING! If you ever decide to do this again, I hope you know that I'm available to help! You are one awesome "Little Girl"!

Happy Anniversary!

In my previous post I mentioned that we celebrated several occasions last Saturday. My MIL's birthday and my parents' anniversary. We also celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary! Woohoo! Time really does fly when you're having fun! My SIL, Dee, is a very crafty gal, but still isn't convinced that she wants to start a blog. I think she should, but she's just really shy about sharing her creations. So, I will share them with you! Dee made everything in the pictures below. She made all the favors for the party, and the prizes for the trivia contest about me & hubby.

Here are the gifts she made us. Can you tell which gift is for him and which one is for me? Hahaha!

Check out this awesome shaker card she made ...

This is the inside of the card ...

On the left side it said: 25 roses one for each year past. They were tied with a silver ribbon. On the right side it said: 25 roses one for each year future. They were tied with a gold ribbon. Each rose was die cut, glittered and sponged.

How awesome are all these creations? Thank you so much Dee! We really appreciate everything you did for us, especially planning the special dinner at Ruth's Chris! Love you!

Special things

Hey all! Hope you're doing well. Can I just say THANK YOU GOD for keeping all of us safe during these last few days, as we all waited to see what would become of Hurricane Felicia. As you all know, Felicia was downgraded to a tropical storm, then a tropical depression, and now we are just having lots of rain and wind. It's kinda weird to look outside and see all the gray skies and rain, knowing that it's the middle of summer.

Anyway, on to my post. I was lucky enough to meet two great blogging sisters this past Saturday. I've been "talking" to Joy and Claudette for a while now and it was such a pleasure to finally meet them in person. They are both such sweet gals! Claudette made me this cute HK bag with some yummy goodies inside as a thank you for something I gave her a long time ago. You didn't have to do that, Claudette, but thank you! I also want to say THANK YOU to Joy for the "special" things I got from you too! You gals are too much ...

These next two cards were for some very special people. We celebrated my MIL's birthday this past Saturday night, along with my 25th wedding anniversary, my sister's birthday, and my parents' 58th wedding anniversary. Whew! Did I forget anything? Anyhoo, let me confess something first. I was making my sister's card, but wasn't able to finish it before the America concert. I told her it was coming but she told me never mind, the concert was enough. So I didn't finish it. THEN, I totally forgot to make an anniversary card for my hubby! OMG! I couldn't believe it! He didn't say anything about it, but I'm still planning on making a special one for him too. I'll post both cards when I'm done. I knew that for my MIL's card I wanted to use Geisha Anya and give the card an asian look. I'm very happy with the way it turned out. Happy Birthday Mom!

I used this cute Lily & Billy image that I got from Jodi for my parents' anniversary card. They celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on August 4th, while they were in Las Vegas. I knew that I wanted to use a cute image like this for their card - they are still very healthy and young at heart! Love you Mom and Dad!

I have a few more special things to post, but I'll save that for the next time. Thanks for visiting everyone! Take care and aloha ...

No crafts - just new music

My sister and I went to see America in concert tonight at the NBC. Listening to their music reminded me of much simpler and carefree times. And talk about a blast from the past: Someone actually lit up some pakalolo! I remember going to concerts at the NBC and it was so smoky from pakalolo that sometimes you couldn't even see across the arena! Smelling that stuff sure brought back lots of memories. Anyhoo, we had a really good time and America sounded great! Dewey and Gerry still sound like they did back in the 70s. They must live clean lives - no smoking, drinking, or drugs. After the concert, they came out to meet and sign autographs for the fans after the concert. Dewey said that his son lives in Hawaii and his grandson was born here, so he definitely has ties to our State. They're off to Maui tomorrow for a concert there. I hope the weather is good for them. I had such a great time that I needed to put their music on my blog. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Thanks for visiting.

A couple more scrap cards

Here are a few more "scrap" cards I recently made. Same simple layout as the other two. Hopefully you'll be seeing me try to layer more on my cards. That is the next thing that I want to "master". I'm getting better at cutting, my coloring still sucks, but at least it's not too bad, so now I wanna try my hand at layering. I have such a hard time putting colors together. We'll see how I do ... for now, check out these cards: This Tilda and her puppy are so cute! I can't stand it!

What would a post be without Eddie? Excuse me! I mean EDWARD! I just love this stamp from TGF!

See? Told you these were simple cards! Sometimes I think I put too much thought into making a card that's why it takes me soooo long. I need to make what my blog title says: Simple and Sassy Creations. I'm off to make some cards for a birthday and anniversary party that I have this weekend. I'll share them with you when I'm done. Thanks for stopping by and until next time, Aloha!

An "artist" award

My dear sweet friend Cami presented me with this awesome award. Oh my goodness - I'm not sure I can accept this one! It is dedicated to papercraft artists! Holy moly! I'm definitely a papercrafter, but not an artist! Cami, on the other hand, is definitely an artist. Please check out her blog if you haven't done so. She is totally inspiring! I will humbly accept this award and pass it on. Thank you, Cami, for thinking of me. Love you, Girl!

This is the really difficult part - the award rules:

1. Only 3 people are allowed (to have this passed on to them).
2. Two have to be dedicated followers of your blog and the other one has to be someone new or recently new to your blog and live in another part of the world.
3. You must link back to whoever gave you the award.

I want you to know that I consider all of you dedicated followers or you wouldn't be following, right? Heehee! Ok, I'm stalling. It's really hard to choose, so please know that in my heart, you ALL deserve this award as much as these three ladies:

1. Shirley
2. Kim
3. Berenice.

Thank you all for visiting and I want you to know that I really appreciate ALL the wonderfully encouraging and sweet comments you leave me! Aloha ...

No crafts, but a shout out to my sister!

This is a very belated shout out to my sister, Sharon, who has started her blog! Since she'll tell anyone that she's not the crafty one, I'm gonna tell you the same thing. She's not the crafty one. Hahaha! Love you Sis! Anyhoo, her blog isn't about crafts, but it is about making money. Who doesn't want to make money, right? So, if you're interested, please check out her blog here. Also, please let her know you found her through me so she'll know that people are looking. Thanks everyone! Enjoy the rest of your week! It's Hump Day tomorrow! Sorry, I couldn't resist putting a picture of Rob in this post. Heehee!
