Card for my son
Hey all! Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the summer! My son's birthday was last month and I forgot to post his card, so here it is. Looking at it, you probably think my son is a young boy. He's not! He just turned 20 and I can't believe how fast the years have gone by. For those of you who are new to my blog and don't know, my son is autistic. So even though his chronological age is 20, he doesn't act his age. But you know what? That's fine with me - I love him no matter what! Ok, so on to his card. I knew I wanted to make him a card from Maui (our fur baby) so I used my fav Cricut cart, Create A Critter and this is what I came up with:
I think it came out pretty cute. Do you see that little face on the pinwheel? I drew that!!! Of course it isn't an original face; I jacked it from my GF Brenda. Thanks Brenda! Head on over to her blog and check out her awesome original crafts - she is super talented!!! Ok, that's it for now. I'll be posting the cards I made for the Sunshine and Smiles card drive for the St. Jude's Childrens Research Hospital over the next few days. If you can, be sure to come back on Saturday, July 2nd for some excited news! Until next time, take care!

My son
I am happy to say that he's finally on the road to recovery! I covered his right eye this afternoon and held up my fingers in front of his left eye and he was able to tell me how many fingers were held up! I did this exercise several times and he got them all right! I thank God and all of you for your positive thoughts and prayers for him!

Update on my son
He's not quite out of the woods yet. He needs to see the doctor for three more days and hopefully by then he'll have a clean bill. The pressure in his eye did go down a bit, so that's good. But because there is still blood in his eye, he can't get a complete look at his retina. The doc said that the previous scan showed that the retina was still attached, but he wants to be sure that it is. My boy will be out of school until Wednesday, and I'll be at home with him. I'll update again in a couple of days. Thanks everyone, for your kind words, thoughts and prayers. They are really helping get us through this crazy time!
My son
Nothing crafty in this post. Just wanted to share what I'm going through right now. My son was hit in the eye yesterday afternoon with a BB from an air soft gun. It was a malfunction and unfortunately he had already taken off his safety goggles. Long story short ... his retina is still attached, thank God, but his eye was filled with blood. We're going back today for a follow up, and if the pressure in his eye has decreased, then we can go home. If not, he'll be admitted to the hospital to have surgery to drain the blood. I'll update later. Take care everyone and have a great weekend!
